Looking for a new hobby?
Volunteer with us!
Volunteering at Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway.
Without our volunteers there would be no railway. Our volunteers make sure the trains run, the stations look good, and that our visitors have a great day out.
Everyone is welcome in every role and no prior experience is needed. There are plenty of roles you can help us with, both on the railway and from home.
You don’t need to be a railway enthusiast either; volunteering is about more than just the trains, it’s the social life, the skills gained, and the enjoyable experiences.
What can I do?
Get in touch for an informal chat about the opportunities available. There’s no minimum time commitment.
We have opportunities across all parts of the railway, from running the trains to tending the station gardens. Click on the links below to see some of the roles available, or see our volunteering brochure here.

Need somewhere to stay while you’re here?
If you don’t live locally, you can still join us for working holidays or weekends. Bunkhouse accommodation is available at our Llanfair Caereinon site for a nominal fee.
